Keep Yourself Challenged
No doubt, soldering is a very challenging skill to develop. Once you start to get the hang of it, avoid slipping into a comfy territory of familiarity. Nudge yourself into making jewelry that pushes you into a new level of competency. Try new metals, increase the number of solder joints you are comfortable working with, use a different torch, work really small or really big, and on and on. While you are learning, keep in mind where you have come from and all of the skills you have acquired along the way. This after all, is a great adventure.
Gratitude: I am especially grateful to Deb Jemmott for teaching me how to solder. She was never fazed with my discouragement and always believed I could do it. Thanks too to Pauline Warg for introducing me to her way of soldering.

/ March 30, 2012Thank you, Connie for all the great tips. I’m ready to try soldering again. I’ll start with copper, because I melted too many silver pieces in your class. I’m looking forward to coming to your classes in 2013. Hugs, Karen
